Anyone who has contact with birds though commercial farming, small flocks or hobby farms, and/or provides services to poultry producers (for example poultry transporters, feed providers, catching crews, etc.), is encouraged to practice enhanced biosecurity procedures.
In October 2025 the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food released an updated rat and mice control fact sheet, with comprehensive information about species, risks, and control methods. The ministry, along with others, are continuing to explore the potential link between rodents and HPAI transmission – prioritizing their control is a biosecurity measure farmers may consider.
